Sounds like you need to  secede from VA, not US.

Several of US in Virginia may have to secede for a few hours of fierce combat with firecrackers and then rejoin the Union.   ;D ;D

Or we may have to do a border crossing so we can legally purchase and fire off our firecrackers...........
Or charter a boat go out past the limit.........

wyoming , i know it is out of way for yous in Virginia .

for what it worth SC sells them .....

i'm interested and have been shooting the Irishmans cohorn for almost a year . and my new parrot .30 for a couple months .

fwiw i find that the higher class cracker with green fuse is the best 'match ammo' going , it is water ...resistence , and much more reliable than the old gray paper fuse.

I'll second Gary's opinion on this 1/16'' diam. green fuse; last year a bud gave me a half gross of bottle rockets, and b-r's don't do anything for me, so I pulled all the fuses. These are in 2 3/16th-inch lengths, and half the length is covered in flash powder, so thats the end inserted in the vents of my .50 -.75 cal. guns and 1-inch mortar. This stuff works great, I now wish that these vents hadn't been drilled as large as they are.

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

Just an idea i have to add to the contest. For those that don't want to use firecrackers, or don't have any firecrackers. How about using 1 1/2" x 1/4" wood dowel rod in place of the firecracker, and see how far you can shoot it?

I'd like to make sure everyone has the same understanding of the functional requirement of a "firecracker cannon" because it seems some are making things to project a firecracker out of said thing, while the more simple-minded (speaking of myself) might be content to make a cannon that holds a lit firecracker, which then explodes inside said cannon, creating an audible signal.

So which are we talking about in this here contest, or is it either?

In a word; both or either.  There are enough categories to go around.

The idea is to be creative and innovative.

Be creative/innovative enough and you'll have your own category.   ;D

Almost done working on my two entries, maybe have pics for this weekend. On the 4th of July i'll drag out the Betsy Ross Flag, but, i can almost imagine what George Washington and his motley crew of Rebels, Patriots, and Continental Soldiers, would have to Say... when they heard we can't have firecrackers to celebrate their Victory.

Can some one post dimensions of the common fireacracker?

The ones with the green fuse and more rounder are 6x74mm  (0.232" x 1.5").

I thought they'd be bigger in diameter!  They are right much the same as the others with the gray fuses.

I agree about WHERE (which board) to post the political things; HOWEVER, TEA as well as FIRECRACKERS (and BLACKPOWDER CANNONS) is a tradition - a freedom - worth fighting for!

In addition to TEAPARTIES we need to have FIRECRACKER and CANNON parties!

But in contrast (re: names) there is always my favorite - St. Mike.

I thought Marco Polo and/or the Crusaders were usually credited with having had a hand in bringing knowledge of fireworks from the East to the West, and the word West would include the British Isles in its definition. I think Britain actually got its knowledge of fireworks after European countries already knew about them.

Agree with the EXACT conversion you noted; however, my measurements were an average of several measurements in each of metric and inch, therefore not as exact as mathematics might produce.  Had I done a mathematical conversion of one to the other the systems of measurement there would be no conflict.  I'll be more rigorous next time.  74mm is obviously (to me) a typo.

Regarding TEAPARTIES, FIRECRACKER parties, and CANNON parties, we did hold our own Cannon party on Memorial Day, and a great time was had by all! I posted it on Backyard Cannon Fun, but I do agree with Tim, we need to have more, practice makes perfect! Working on a few Firecracker Cannons, making them out of Brass water hose nozzles, small, but fun! BoomLover

Now we got to have a "Diabolical Multiple Discharge Device"-category for KABAR2, I might enter a project in that one too! ;D

Somebody explain the proper way to hold a Firecracker party, otherwise i might end up just dumping them in the creek.

I wanted to remind all members that the original M-BPFC FireCracker Launcher Cannon (as seen in the BackYard Cannon Fun Thread: http://www.gboreloaded.com/forums/index.php/topic,63873.420.html#lastPost are still available and ARE POSTED ON THE GBO CLASSIFIEDS at the original 2005 price.

We are also offering a barrel only option, shipped to GBO members for $30.  This could be used as a tool that may be helpful on how you configure your bore, etc.

We recommend you consider a 1/16" dia vent hole for use with 1.4mm visco fuse to project more out the muzzel instead of up the vent

Michael -  Thanks!  Its good to KNOW what size vent to cut before one reaches for the drill.

You have build up an impressive array of brass!

My first one is done (hand-held) no-frills 1/2" bore to shoot 3 firecrackers (made from 303 stainless).  Pix of it when the others are done.

To see how it works look at the pics Tim posted today.
Tim, i really enjoyed today,Thanks. Oh, i still have your pencil in my pocket, will make sure you get it back.
