Here we go again - My 357 Max - because I can use it from plinking to deer and varmints in between. As long as I do not stretch it to much beyond 150 yards. It does not cost a whole lot to feed either. I could live with that.

I am notrying to start a debate between people. I am looking for what each individual likes. If people want to turn this into something that is not meant to be I will ask Tim to lock it or delete it. Again, this is not supposed to be an argument between people as to what they should and shouldn't like. I am just curious as to what everyone likes and why. I will use the info to help me decide on my next purchase.

Only one? Then you need a do all caliber. There are a few in the Handi.
My Pick would be a 30-06 or 280.
That is unless they ever make any more 35 Whelens in a 26" barrel ;D ;)

Bob,
I know that they are not trying to argue. I know that this is done before. I just brought it up for the fun of it and  to help me decide on my next purchase. I enjoy seeing how other people think and seeing how alot of people think alike. Just trying to have some fun and I don't want it leading to any kind od arguments. Thats all.  ;D

I shoot form 150 grains to 550 grains, from rabbit plinker to T-Rex slayer, from 25 yards to 1000 (ok only 10 yimes, but I hit the gong on all of the last five). All with the 45-70 BC.  No contest for me.  LIke the others, love the BC.

Have a 30-30 and can certainly see the arguement in favor, especially for handloaders. Just don't think I could stretch it as far as the 45-70.

I would say that the combo counts. Some one else said a SB2 frame with all of the rifle barrels.  ;D

BOTH!!! The 30-30 was out of stock for almost a year when I bought a used barrel, or it would have been one of my first, the 45-70 was my first accessory barrel, the 357 and 30-30 were the next two used barrels I bought.  ;)

If I could only keep one gun it would actually be my 20 gauge Pardner with screw in choke. Within it's range it covers everything possible to hunt in New England from squirrels to moose. It's nice and light and I can carry it all day.

I have a .44mag on layaway.  ;D I am undecided on either the .357 or the .45-70. You guys aren't making this any easier on me so I may just have to get the both of them.  ;)

The 44 mag would be choice ( if the combo counts then I GUuueesss I'll take that rifled 12 ga barrel tooo) , For alot of the same reasons as the MAX guys love that one .. It just costs me a pinch more for my reloading supplies but boy aint it worth it ..  The Old Fourty Four is the happy middle ground between the 45/70 and the Ol' Max ... And like Lefty mentioned for his 308 .. So can the 44 be found every where in the US....
