Does anyone know where the turn signal relay is on a 1999 Jeep Cherokee???

This is giving me fits. The turn signals stopped working. The bulbs are fine. The hazards still work. The directional indicators on the insturment panel dont light up when I turn the signals on. In the Haynes manual it shows the turn signal flasher as a round shaped unit in the fuse box. My fuse box looks nothing like theirs.

Can anybody help??????

buy a new one and replace the one that looks just like it in the fuse box, Worked for me.

one other thing it is common to have 2 fuse boxes now, one under the hood usually on the right rear, and one under the drivers side of the dash.

That's the problem there are three big square relays in the fuse box and they all look alike. I pulled all of them and the plug pattern is the same on all three.

Geez when the signals quit working on my old Ranger I just replaced the round one. This Jeep although a good vehicle has some very aggravating quirks-number one being the location of the fuse box-on the passenger side damn near on the floor kinda hard to get into unless you happen to be 3 feet tall!

If you have an owners manual, that should tell you.  Look in or on the cover for the fuse box, that should also be marked with the purpose for each fuse and relay.  My Jeep had it on the outside of the cover.

could swap  a couple them relay's and see if it clears your problem before doing that use a marker and mark the relays #1/#2/#3.
Your hazard flashers work?

The Hazards worked while all of this was going on. I pulled the 10 amp fuse for the turn signals. The fuse looked fine but I replaced it anyway and so far so good they are working again. Hopefully that was it.

newer vehicles with knife blade style fuses and the fuse box hanging upside down under the dash have the bad habit of the fuses working loose and working intermittently, the electronic odometere on my  f150 was going on and off all the time and being a real pain , I pushed all the fuses in and they all moved to some degree and now the odometer is staying on. if your having odd electronic problems this is worth a try.
