Recoil on T/C .223 15"

I order a 14" .223 (factory barrel) for my T/C contender frame and want to know a comparable recoil so I know what to expect.  What other caliber is it compared in the a T/C handgun?  The hottest loads I have shot in a handgun is the .45+P 300 grain corbon - 1300 fps - loads. I've read some of the post and some say it is fun to shoot and accurate.  Haven't heard anything negative about the .223 in that config.

I had a super 14 with a scope , for the life of me i don't recall much if any real recoil . It might compare to a 7 TCU.

I shoot 223 in a 15 inch Encore.   Recoil is very mild but it is LOUD.  Wear your hearing protection.

almost no recoil , muzzle blast and the flash can be pretty good though . Mine is super accurate , I shoot golf balls at 200 meters with ease

Cool!!!!.....on the little recoil!!! Even if i miss the ground hogs i can still burn them to death with flame.   ;D

I did have one on my encore but as has been said not too bad on recoil but was very loud, sold it because of the weight factor and went for a 12 inch, weight was a bit better but much louder. you need ear plugs for sure. I believe it would compair to 44 mag. in loudness.

Like everyone said,the noise is loud and recoil is nothing to worry about.And I've had several and all were accurate. ;D

The recoil is such that I use a long eye relief rifle scope on mine. Cheaper and a better field of view than a pistol scope.

I ordered a T/C 14" from the factory - got it today - and the web-site says it's drilled and tapped for scope mounts even tho it comes with iron sights.  I am a bit confused by this since i do not see any extra holes in the barrel.  Do you have to remove the rear site and use the rear sight holes in order to mount a base too the barrel?

You got it.  Remove the rear site and the mounting holes are right there.  I think the new iron sites require that you remove the elevator screw and drift out the hinge pin to get to the screws.  Some of the old ones let you just fold the sight back and you could unscrew the assembly.

I always clean out the holes with brake parts cleaner and dry well before attaching the base.  I normally stone off any ridges and burrs at the top of the holes as well, and put a little bedding compound between the barrel and the base to take out any rock (with release agent on the barrel).  I use blue locktite on the screws.

But that is more than you asked.  Good luck with that new barrel.

I feel i am lucky in the fact i bought my T/C contender when it was the prettiest. The .45/.410 barrel it came with has the vented rib - not the solid one. It has the cougar engraved in the reciever with the built in recoil pad in the grip along with the solid black walnut grip & for-end.  This is a beautiful gun in my eyes - a piece of art at it's finest.  I've somehow managed (knock on wood) not to scratch or mar any part of it even tho i have used it for years.

I read a reply on another forum that had to do with an antique vase that was a piece of art. It was used as a flower pot and everyone thought it was shameful for the owner to use it that way.  I when i looked at that piece of art and my gun - comparing the two - I said screw them.  My gun is a piece of art that will shoot as many flowers and antique vases as I want it too.
