Crazy weather reports
« on: May 30, 2009, 02:46:27 AM »
Who the heck cares what the temperature or the precipitation will be???!!!??? That hardly matters to a sportsman's interests. What I want to see first iin any weather forecast is the wind speed and direction. What's the matter with those crazy meteorologists getting the important things all backward like that? How's a guy supposed to hunt, fish, or shoot targets without a decent wind forecast!!!???!!!

Wind direction and speed are highly inaccurate depending on the location and terrain.

I find the wind forecasts to be highly informative. Knowing, for example, that there will be 25 mph winds today will keep me off of a particular lake. It also tells me that squirrel hunting will be a waste of time. They're very reliable here, perhaps because it's flat. Intellicast does a great wind forecast and shows pictures of current and forecast winds. It's excellent.

Here's an example (click on the NowNet wind speeds at right):

Call for a Pilot Report, they always give predicted wind speeds and directions.  You can get them on line or by phone.  The phone number should be in your local directory.  Under airport, weather.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
