Don, don't have a Helle, knife, though I've often looked at them at their website and in catalogs; but 'bout 6 years ago, before a started grinding my own, I bought one of the Norwegian laminated blades and made a small hunting knife out of it. I'm assuming helle uses about the same kind of steel, maybe better.  Still have that knife, and use it quite a bit as a utility, around the property blade cause that steel takes a beating and hold an edge really well.  Helle knives have a really good reputation.  Jeff G, who posts here, knows more about them; when He sees this hopefully he'll verify what I've found out about them.

The laminated stainless steel blades sold by Atlanta Cutlery about ten years ago hold an edge about as well as 440A/B steels.
