SPG Lube with Smokeless 45-70 loads
« on: June 01, 2009, 05:13:31 AM »
This question may have been asked in the past.  I hope I didn't miss it.  Sorry if I did.

Can SPG lube be used on bullets intended to be fired with smokeless powders?  I understand that there is a velocity tolerance but I was wondering if the bullets become warm, can the lube melt or become fluid enough to creep down the cartridge and foul the powder?  Are there any other problems that can occur using this combination?

It lubes fine at least it has for me up to about 1400 fps. I havent tried it past there so i cant say what the velocity limit is. I havent had problems with it deading powder but then i live up north.
