I bought a Tikka M695 in 30-06 and need a spare magazine.
« on: June 01, 2009, 08:58:35 AM »
I just bought my first Tikka M695 in 30-06.  I love my Remington 700 action, but wanted to try something different.  I have not shot it yet, and it has a weaver grandslam scope on it.  I will have to see what it has for scope mounts on it.  If they are the factory should I junk them and get something else that's better?  I also would like to get another magazine, so I have 2 of them.  Any Idea were would be the best place to find/or buy one?
Thanks

The weaver Grand Slam should be a pretty good scope, I'll bet the rings/bases that are with it will be fine. By this I mean the previous owner had at least some desire for quality. If it was a basement level scope I'd be more suspect(I won't list any brands that come to mind). I would also do a few searches on Gunbroker & GunsAmerica.com to see what the availability of extra magazines is. If you don't find one maybe research a mega Tikka dealer & try to order one from them. I have some hunting rifles with a detachable magazine, including a Sako 75. I take the loaded mag out of the gun when required for transport(vehicle or whatever). I guess what I'm saying is I get by fine with one magazine for the gun & extra cartridges on the belt. The empty mag is always in the gun during storage. I've never lost a mag. You just have to be sure where it is when it is out.

I have seen magazines offered for sale at the bigger gun shops but they cost $$$$$ . I have a Tikka also and always have the Mag in the gun , or when tranporting loaded in a good secure pocket .I never needed any more rounds than the mag would hold, but if your empty, a cartridge can be quickly be dropped in the chamber with the empty Magazine in place . I always carry five rounds secured to my coat.

The older model M695 were good guns and command  a good price here in Canada .
Enjoy

You can find them on Ebay from time to time for a reasonable price. Resist the temptation of ordering them from Beretta. I can guarantee you won't like their prices.

Does anyone know whwere I can find a gas cap for a Chevy Impala for under $75?

Just kidding  ;D

Tikka mags have got to be the biggest rip-off in anything outdoors related swag I can think of. Buying a back up/second magazine was something I have always done with many guns......untill I bought a Tikka. I'll gladly pay $20-30 for a Remington metal clip, but out of principal, I refuse to pay $70 for a piece of plastic smaller than a size of a pack of ciggarettes. I love my Tikka, I've killed moose, deer, and hogs with it, but if I ever loose the mag, I'll take the Ziess off and sell this gun.

You'd think Beretta was charging an insurance company or something with these crazy prices....like a hospital does with $15 asprin.

I figgure there's maaaaaabey .50 cents worth of plastic in these things. Beretta could charge tenfold and they'd sell 'em like hotcakes.

Isn't Beretta an Italian company?  Maybe Italy has some crazy tax/tariffs on their gun parts.

Yep Berretta is Italian and the oldest gunmaker in the world. They also seem to be very..................... very greedy. I doubt they even make the magazines they are possibly still made in Finland. I do think it was a backwards for Tikka and Sako to be owned by Berretta the first thing they did was redesign the rifles and includes lots of cheaply manufactured plastic  ::) notice the prices didn't drop though.

I dislike Berretta you might have noticed  ;).

The plastic parts thing is the single biggest issue holding me up from trying a Tikka.  I have done tons of research and their accuracy appears to be awesome for factory rifles.  I just cannot get over plastic on my guns.  I don't care if it is the best plastic made anywhere.  It just doesn't seem "right" to me.

Outdoorzman,

I think I know a guy with a new Tikka 695 30-06 magazine to sell.  About $50. + five bucks shipping if I remember right.

P.M. me if you are interested.
Vote them all out, EVERY election!

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!

I have a Tikka 695 30-06 magazine (nearly new condition) I'm willing to sell for $50 plus $5 for shipping. I kept the spare mag when I sold the rifle.

Send me a pm if you are interested.
