A message for Vets
« on: June 02, 2009, 04:47:01 AM »
Last week I had a Dr.s appointment and I was asked these same questions.  At the time I noticed they were a little different than the ones they usually ask, but did not think about it that much.  The old questions were 1. Do you feel safe at home?  2. Have you been physically abused or threatened by anyone at home or else where?  3.  Do you feel stressed?    Had other issues on my mind, and did not think about it till I got this in an e-mail from a friend.  Don't know who wrote it, but the questions are correct per my experience.  I do go to a VA Clinic for health care.    Rog

This one is for you Veterans. I have never heard of this before,
but I thought it was important enough to pass along here.
"I had a doctors appointment at the local VA clinic yesterday and found something very interesting I would like to pass along.. While going
through triage before seeing the doctor, I was asked at the end of the
exam, three questions.
(1. Did I feel stressed?)
(2. Did I feel threatened?)
(3. Did I feel like doing harm to someone?)
The nurse then informed me, if I had answered yes to any of the questions,
I would have lost my concealed carry permit as it would have gone into
my medical records and the VA would have reported it to Homeland
Security.
I am a Viet Nam vet and 15 year cc permit holder. Looks like they
are going after us vets."  Be forewarned and be aware. The Obama administration has gone on record as considering veterans and gun
owners as potential terrorists. If you are a veteran, you've been warned.
If y ou know veterans, please pass this on to them.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Sourdough,
Thanks for posting this - it is a very important subject and I would not put this past the current administration at all, expecially after the statements by a cabinet member describing veterans as potential terrorists.

But, I don't think this one is legit...

Glad to hear it.  I do know the questions are asked, and was hoping the reasons were not as stated in the e-mail.

But then again is the rebuttal real or misinformation.

Just because It says so in an article on the internet doesn't mean it's true! They didn't change the wording of the questions for no reason. The memo leaked by homeland security just showed their true colors. If you have enough money you can keep your article on the first page on any web search.

The fair and reasonable gun laws in the Kingdom of Hawaii (proud of their "native" son) require that you answer a mental health questionnaire for each gun purchase. Your answers will determine whether or not you may 1) legally retain the gun (they are holding it behind the armored glass while you fill out the paperwork); or 2) retain the firearms already registered. It will also be entered into the National DB, along with a set of your fingerprints, should you ever travel to another participating state and decide you wish to purchase a firearm there.

I mention this to my fellow military members because even though stigma in the military against seeking help from a Chaplain or a Mental Health provider for stress, or other reasonable issues, is on the decline, and members currently under care and medicated for depression, etc. have been deemed fit for duty, including armed combat ... the STATE will not allow you to keep your guns.

Fair and reasonable,
