A Sick Kind of Irony and a Prayer Request
« on: June 03, 2009, 08:19:38 AM »
So I was recently involded in a thread discussing parental rights with regards to medical care.  http://www.gboreloaded.com/forums/index.php/topic,173840.0.html  I took the stance that if that were my daughter I would do anything I could to help her get well and that the government has the right to make sure a parent fufills their responsiblity.

Well, my daughter has had a swolen lymph node in her neck since Thanksgiving, when she had strep.  She has had several round of antibiotics (Amoxicillin & Omnicef) and recently developed an alergy to that line of antibitics, and will no have to wear a bracelet.  Our concern has grown over the last 2 months or so, because she kept getting sick and the lymph node has varied in size but always been enlarged.  Our doctar (a very close family friend) finially referred us to an ENT next Tuesday.  The problem and the prayer request comes in now.

The two of the more likely causes are mono and lymphoma, and the mono test has came back negative.  They are going to do a biopsy next Tuesday to see exactly what is going on.  I hope you'll all send a prayer for my daughter that she make a speedy recovery and that it is nothing sever.

Thank you all,
Erik

Hard when it's your kids ain't it. Prayers sent.

When my son was born he was 59 days early. We did a lot of praying then and God answered every one. He's 20 now and will be 21 in Sept.

I will gladly lift your daughter up, when I finish this post. There is nothing like the feeling that comes over a parent when the child or children hurt. the best feeling is yet to come when God hears these prayers and your child is healthy again. I'll ask God to be with you and your family at this time. May God's rest come upon all of you.

Guy's You don't see this kind of good talk and discussion in the newspaper or on TV. What a great bunch of people we have in the Graybeard Family. It is a total rare occurance. What a blessing!  God bless each one of you that will lift this child up in prayer.

An update for any that are interested:
The doctor's apt. went OK today.  He pretty much ruled out any of the lymphomas, but has no idea what is causing the issue in general.  Over all he was rather unhelpful and disrespectful.
For most of the morning she was running a temp, on both Tylenol and ibuprofen, of over 104.  (This happens around once a month, once every two at most.)  My X asked what we should do for the fever and he said...and I quote... "If you don't know what to do for a fever, you shouldn't have kids." I suppressed the urge to introduce the man to his jar of tongue suppressors (I felt that he should get to know them...in the biblical sense) I asked what we should do about the 104.3 fever NOW (which would be around 106 without the meds) as in "Do you think the fever is serious enough to go to Urgent Care?" His reply was, "Whatever you want, this isn't and E.N.T. issue." and left...  He spent all of 3-4 minutes with us and examining my daughter.  That includes the "conversation."

I have two things to say...
1. I'm happy that the doctor doesn't think that it is anything serious.
2. If it is something serious and his lack of professionalism and attention to detail costs my daughter 1 minute of pain, illness, or worse, I will beat the dog snot out of the man and count the 10 days in the poky as even...  My family isn't the "suing" type.  Or...if I'm really mad,  I'll turn him over to my X  :o ....nah...he doesn't deserve that.
This that I do, I do by my own free will.

WylieKy,

I'm sure I don't need to say it to you, but I'd get her examined by a real doctor. What a prick for a Doctor. More prayers on their way for your baby girl.

GRRRRRRRRRRR!!

"IF I KNEW WHAT TO DO FOR A FEVER THAT HIGH I WOULDN'T BE HERE ASKING FOR YOUR HELP$#!#!$!!%%@%#!"

Whatever happened to doctors that cared ?
Or at least had a little bit of class.

Glad to hear that your girl doesn't have nothing serious wrong.
We will keep her in our prayers.

BTW--I think you ought to find a new doctor too!

plenty of good doctors ,,i think ..but medical care has gone to big moneys concept of med care.. you are a number..anytime one of mine is hospitalised .. i really watch what each shift does .. time has taught me that they may have an outa date chart or even the wrong chart....
so i watch them close.. im not gonna tell the horror stories i could.. but i still don t think its doctors that are bad ,,at least not always..

in this case though,,, you have a jerk for a doctor..slim

I was tired and irritated last night and didn't thank everyone for their support.  Thank you.

An interesting sidebar story about ths.  My family Dr. is a very close personal friend of my family.  His parents and my grandparents grew up together and were neighbors for almost 45 years (each owned half of the "hill").  We are family in every way but blood.  I don't even get charged for anything my insurance doesn't pay.  He sent us to this guy because he has the reputation as being the BEST pediatric ENT in the region.  So much for reputations.
This that I do, I do by my own free will.

Prayers sent!

Get a second opinion.  No matter the reputation that preceeded him; that kind of bed side manner deserves a swift kick to the posterior.  There's nothing I hate more than paying someone to be rude.

Best of luck!
