Thanks for all the support and well wishes given over this topic.

My heart is very heavy now because the one thing I cannot protect my Booker from has come for Him.

I had to have Him put down,because of cancer.6-14-10
I have not felt this bad in many years.I truely loved this dog.
I don't wish this pain on anyone.

To lose a friend like Booker is a tough one to face! Been there done that to many times.

I had to put my old cocker spaniel, Gypsy down, May 21st. Some dogs were the best of everything, and that was my Gypsy. I do so understand what you're going through, Alan. Tears flowed for days. And sometimes, without warning, tears come again. God willing, your heart will heal, and leave only the great memories.

My sympathy to you.  It's been several years now since I had Anney (Bluetick Coonhound) put down.  She was like part of the family.  I buried her on a ridge, and laid a headstone, near the timberline where we had many a memorable night hunt, overlooking the valley towards the ranch.  I still shed a tear when I visit her grave.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Alan.  I guess that people don't really understand until they've been there.  It's been over four years for me, and I still can't bring myself to get another dog.  I don't know if I'll ever be able to.  Gary

Our fore fathers got rid of the bad critters why on earth the tree hugging city dwellers want to bring them back and protect them is beyond me .

Refreshing to see someone that thinks the same as me..Out forefathers fought the varmints to protect their way of living..and as I am living by the skin of my teeth and subsistence farming, same rules my ancestors lived by are applied here..Any critter that threatens my chicken,cows, pigs will be dealt with...
