Did you get a bear on your recent hunt?

Excellent report and pictures, dukkillr! Thanks for sharing. In fact, your entire blog spot, The Daily Limit, is top quality. Very nice job.

Congrats on the successful hunt. Keep up the good hunting and you'll get that P&Y someday soon.

Congrats!  That was a fun read.  I bet that death moan from the first bear really got your hair standin' on end.

Thanks.  I've enjoyed the writing but especially the photography that goes along with trying to publish a semi-finished product somewhat regularly.  It has really changed the way I view my time spent afield in a positive way.  I've also enjoyed meeting hunters from all over the country because of it.

Really liked your day by day hunting report and congratulations on your bears.

This style of hunting sounds pretty good for an old man like me with bum knees.  ;D

Thanks.  Bear hunting is perfect for people who are looking for something with less physical impact.  I'll be thinking about how much fun it was when I'm running up and down mountains chasing elk with my bow this September...

It's also perfect for young hunters.  Bears are easy to kill, easy to hunt, and the circumstances are very controllable.

Great story and pics. Just curious, were you referred to the Garrett Bros. by someone? Pat seems like a real good guy. He posts over on Bowsite.com. and offers a free DVD of his operation and it sure looks like a good deal. Everyone that hunts there gives positive reviews of their camp the same as you did. They sure take some big bears up there! I'd love to hunt in his camp someday soon.

Free DVD of Garrett Bros......

I found Pat through Bowsite.  He and his brother are both fantastic guys, and real killers.  I've hunted with guides who work hard but aren't themselves especially good hunters.  Not the case with the Garrett Brothers.  They are like kids in a candy store in bear country, in fact I got the feeling they would be doing the exact same thing even if they had no clients.

None of that would matter if they didn't have piles of big bears.  Just look though my pictures.  Half our guys killed P&Y bears and half killed color phase bears.  Obviously there is a huge advantage to being able to kill 2 bears too.  Kill one and you get to keep hunting instead of sitting around camp.

We're booked for spring 2011.

I have the video you're talking about.  I was hoping it would be from the 2009 season.  They shot some great video of a 20" bear being killed and a female hunter killing a 19" with a rifle after it tried to climb her tree!
