recoil pad
« on: June 06, 2009, 11:35:55 PM »
I have a tikka T3 hunter in a 270 WSM. It's a great rifle and cal. however the recoil on it makes pleasure shooting with it almost impossible. Now before someone says it too much gun I shoot my 300 win mag all the time and it's fine but there something about this WSM that gives you a jolt. In fact it bent the leg on my shooting brace. I was going to put a recoil pad on the rifle but my gun smith says the butt on the T3 hunters are glue, stapled and screwed down(talk about over kill). Anyone out there put a pad on one??? Was it the end of the world my gunsmith says it is?????

Put a limbsaver pad on it .

I had the same problem with my 338F. Installed the pad and now it is a pussycat.
It just very easy to do . Just two screws off and on on the t3 Lite.

Not a t3 lite a t3 hunter. The gunsmith offered to change the pad for free when he thought it was a t3 lite but declined the job when he found out it was a t3 hunter.

Well even if it were a part of the stock I still would go with the limbsaver pad . Have a look your self Has it screws on the back then take these out , tape the end of the stock, get something to gently tap it off.
Even if the gun shop charged an hour labour it would still be worth the money.
It made my T3 shoot more like a 30/30 Marlin than hitting the shooter with a hardwood section of 2x4.
