.223 to 7.62X25
« on: September 19, 2003, 07:53:35 PM »
I understand that this can be done.  Anyone know the mechanics of this conversion.  I can get .223 for zero cost and I have lots of time.  CZ52 shooters please respond with your experience and favorite loads.
Many thanks.

Man o man it is a god-awful amount of work.  I did a few just to try it out, the rims arent exactly the same but they work. Best thing is to go get a few boxes of Sellier and Bellot loaded ammo and have fun with it. The CZ really kicks the brass out, they go everywhere, some of them drop at your feet, and some will be straight out and then it will be way back over your shoulder, but I can usually recover about 75% without going too crazy.  For the amount that I acyually re-load, if I only picked up 10% it would be enough.  I load 90 gr Hornady XTP's, but I dont fire them all the time, the factory ball ammo is so cheap for plinking and 'getting happy'.  Maybe if I find a good deal on bulk bullets I will start using up that brass.
....make it count

YOu can make 7.62 out of 223 brass. What you need is a set of forming dies from RCBS that run about $200 or so and then the normal loading dies. starline now makes the 7.62X25 brass  so this would be a better way to go
