Øyvind -

WELCOME to the board!  I'll have to look up the ASME equivalent steel.  Do you have any pictures or drawings?

A633
A633 is a normalized high-strength low-alloy structural steel plate. It is suited for service at low ambient temperatures of –50°F or higher where notch toughness better than expected is desired.

Mechanical Properties SA633:
Tensile: Up to & Inc 2.5”: 70 to 90 ksi Over 2.5” to 4”: 65 to 85 ksi
Yield: Up to & Inc 2.5”: 50 ksi min Over 2.5” to 4”: 46 ksi min

Interesting stuff.  I LIKE the high notch toughness for cannons/mortars.

WOW; that explains it well!

I would change the form from drill-point to hemisphere bottom of the bores.  That would eliminate the sharp corner (stress riser) and make it stronger.

The dimensions look good.

I have NO experience with more than one bore being fired at the same time - other than in using the technique of multiple charges to split rock.  Having said that, I wonder about the strength when firing one or more at the same time.

Hey, I've revudert project, and will use single Thundermugs. Materials selection is 42CRMO4 or 34CRNIMO6 (SIS 2541)
Security is first priority.
wall thickness is the same as caliber, or a little thicker.
there are three different sizes 30x95x220mm
40x130x260mm and 50x155x300mm total length.
They will only be used to salute.
