Today was the first day it didn't rain at my house in almost two weeks. I did get to go fishing a couple times over the weekend. I got rained on both times but still had a good time.

Don't know if anyone here lives on dirt roads but the county decided it was time to drag the ditches and plow the roads. I live about three miles back in the country and the roads are always bad especially after it rains a couple days. As always if they plow the roads it's an absolute certainty that it's going to storm and make an enormous three mile long mud hole. >:( The only thing that saves me is 4 wheel drive and it's still bad sometimes.

Grew up on a dirt road, I know what you mean.  The county used to come and dump all the old used oil from the shop on our road to keep the dust down.  When it rained that oil and red clay made quite a combination.  Folks always thought we owned red cars I guess, it did no good to wash them.

I live at the cross road and the closest way to my house is right at three miles. One of the neighbors lives about a mile away with two teenage boys. These two boys give the name "punk" a much better reputation. Both of them have fancy trucks with the loud exhaust and extremely loud sound systems in them. I'm always neighborly but I sure wish the trucks would break down or maybe have a small wreck to slow them down. These boys give a whole new meaning to the words "Red Neck".

Back when my daughters were small and we didn't have any traffic it was always fun to go for a walk. There is a spring that runs year round and keeps water in the ditch. My kids used to love it when they could put on their water boots and go bogging while walking. Those were some good times.

We had a young man try and make a racetrack out of our old dirt road once.  Daddy hollered at him the first two times he came by.  The third time he threw a brick through his windshield.  When the sheriff got there he arrested him for public endangerment and had his car towed.

Nowadays they would have locked Daddy up.

Ain't it the truth!   >:(  I could tell you stories that would curl your hair!  Just another example of the gub'ment making the people rely on it for everything.  You better not try to protect yourself or your property!  You better not show a fool he's a fool or try to help your neighbor!  Big Brother is the only one allowed to save us!   ::)

Don't get me started... I'm still wound up from court today...  ;D

Lots has changed Richard, but the reason it has is because so many of us, (Americans), have not only let it but invited it.  I hope some people wake up soon before its irreversible. :-\

This reminded me of a dirt road I used to travel a lot. Years ago I dated a girl that live way out in the country. I learned how to get to and from her house on dirt roads because we were typical teenagers that drank and partied on the weekends. This old man would get out in front of his house with a tractor and a scoop. He would dig a trench about 8 inches deep and about 8 feet wide across the road. Needless to say after a couple of times forgetting to slow down and a few bumped heads I decided to find a better way to sweat thangs house. The ole guy must have known we were parking in the woods about a half mile from his place. "LOTS" of good stories there. ;D
