Found the solution to my salty T-Bolt
« on: June 08, 2009, 03:44:08 PM »
Howdy,
After spraying my badly corroded T-Bolt barreled action with Extend and hanging everything in the garage (where I wouldn't have to look at it) for a year, I dropped everything off at Summit 3D Graphics in Franklin, IN ( www.summit3dgraphics.com ). Jeff was familiar with the salt-wood problem and will be sealing the stock with hard finish, then dipping it in immersion graphics to give it the look of a Ruger gray laminate stock. He will de-rust the action, barrel, and trigger guard, and then fill and smooth the pits. The metal will then be coated with a silver finish.
I'm betting the farm that by sealing the stock and the metal, I will be able to assemble the rifle and be able to put it to work, again. Jeff assured me that the film used is so thin that my father's custom checkering will still be visible and useful. It will take about three weeks, but I will report back on the results.
It isn't a perfect solution, but Browning won't lift a finger to help an original owner of a circa 1967 mistake, so I'm crossing my fingers.

Yup,
They have plenty of options. I'm going with the A-005-3 wood pattern. I'd be afraid of losing a camo rifle in the woods. (The WORST camo item I ever saw was a Poulan chain saw. Really! So, you run out of gas. You put the saw down and walk to the truck for the gas and oil, turn around, and...Where is that @*&$%# saw?). Seriously. I'd lose the rifle while I was dressing a rabbit.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'd lose mine too if it wasn't tied onto me. ;)
