You've also hit upon the exact reason for my posts like this one - as I am not a machinist, nor have a machine shop.
I only have machines that almost any homeowner or renter would have.
The most complicated machines I use are a 3/8" variable-speed hand drill, and a bench-type grinding wheel.
I try to show what can be done by any one of us, with a little thought and some simple tools - like files, drills, and epoxy.
The "parts", are transformations of other parts and/or things, within which I have visualized the part I need/want - if I can just grind/bend/alter it in some way.
It's not the worst thing in the world, to try to "make" something, then have it come out not quite right.
Just toss the bad job, and either do it over another way, or can the idea as undoable.
It's how I "learned".
