A Minimum/Low-Mount/Bolt Peep For A Rossi M-92
« on: June 11, 2009, 03:29:08 PM »
For those Rossi M92's with the bolt top safety, the safety hole/recess can be used to house an elevation-adjustable peep sight.

No, this peep isn't one of Steve's - although he gave me the idea, over a year ago.
I just haven't ever previously owned any Rossi 92's, until this month.

I might have bought one of his, but AFAIK he hasn't yet settled on either price or delivery dates - so I decided to fashion my own, ILO going "without".

I put a top-mount Win 94AE peep on my .357 M92 Rossi (posted/illustrated in another post), but went for the bolt peep on this .45 Rossi.

This one uses an XS peep stem, which doesn't leave much "meat" in the safety plug I fashioned in a previous post illustrated here.

The next one (there WILL BE a next one) will be a Skinner Lo-Pro peep, which is basically the same thing, with a thin locknut - except that Dr.Tim told me he would make the stem in a narrower 6-48 or 8-40, ILO his standard 10-32, giving more "meat" in the safety filler plug that supports the stem.

One option:  www.skinnersights.com

Buy the Skinner Lo-Pro ($32, brass or blued steel), and have a gunsmith D/T your bolt safety for it.
