500 s&w handi

I just purchased a 500 s&w handi .The rear site is missing (its the fiber optic one) where do I find a new one.I am going to be reloading for it which bullets and powder is working best for you guys with one of these beasts.What does the recoil compare to ? Is it worse than a 12 gage slug gun?I have not picked it up yet should have it sometime next week.

The rear sight can be ordered from H&R, be sure to order the mounting screws too, or you can just order a WGRS peep from them for $18.55. Use the search, you'll find lots of info on loads, there's also a couple links in the FAQs on it with data. You can expect recoil to be healthy with hunting loads, so much so that many don't keep them, so be prepared to load it light if you don't like recoil.  ;)

Look up handi rifle .500 on youtube for visual on recoil

Is the WGRS peep sight the one that mounts where the scope rail mounts?Will that sight work with the fiber front site?Thank you for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Checked it out I can not wait to shoot it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Showed them to my wife and daughter and thay said NO THANKS.Guess I will have to wait for my son to come home on  leave in July I know I can get him to shoot with me.

Yes, the WGRS mounts in the two rear scope base mounting holes, dunno if it will work with the factory sight, mine is scoped, try it and see, if it's not the right height, you can always add a ramp and Firesight as shown in the FAQs Peep and Firesights thread, I use it on a 45-70 and 44mag.

I have one with a peep sight, I wouldnt have it set up any other way.  Its very accurate with cast bullets and Lil'Gun powder.
Yea it recoils but what would you expect.
