Savage 219's

I;ve got a nice on in 30-30, but I'm keeping it- I am looking for a 20 guage barrel for it though

I also have one with 30-30 barrel and 12 ga.Wacked off that 12ga 30 '' barrel to 20'' made great slug gun, J-B welded some rifle sights on,shoots Lee mould slug's verry well,shoot's a pattern witth bird shoot better than you would think**************ogo

I just picked up a near new 219/.22 Hornet - it looks like it should be fun. I know it was designed as an entry level weapon, but is seems to be well made.

I have two, one in 30-30 and one in 22 K Hornet.  Hornets won't shoot anything heavier than 45 gr. jacketed.  Have been able to get decent groups with 48 gr. cast tho.  You Have to love 219s, sure wish Savage would start making them again.

I own a 219 in this caliber.  I purchased it for $12 or $14 in the 50's with some of my papaer route money, from a local pawn shop.  The automatic ejector was worn and has never functioned but it pushes the case out to the "uncocked" position and hand extraction is easy.  I put a scope on it some time back and found it was uncannily accurate with less than minute of angle groups most of the time.  It is not  picky about ammo as long as the bullets are 46 grs or less.  One of my favorites.  I agreee that if Savage would re introduce it in multiple callibers, (as with the handi's), it would be an immensely popular rifle.
