ruger factory rings?

Do they need to be lapped? I just put a set on a burris short mag and it seemed they have an edge that scratched into the scope tube as I put them on. I haven't tightened them down yet. Is this normal, should I not worry about it, and just go ahead and mount the scope? It's getting mounted on a .223 rifle with a heavy barrel so recoil shouldn't be an issue. What do you think? It was not an issue on our  " 06  but then never is every thing the same . Put it this way , it might be worth the efford to go the extra step, if your mounting a good quality scope.

Is the scope you are mounting worth the extra time and effort??
It is an easy question to answer for me.
Most of the Ruger Rings I have lapped had very good alignment, there have been a couple that would have damaged the scope tube, not enough to destroy the scope but enough to definately ding it.
Either I lap every set of rings of I use Burris Signature rings. In the case of Ruger factory rings I lap every set. If the alignment is as good as it should be it will not take much time and effort.
