Wildcat Idea
« on: June 13, 2009, 07:14:45 PM »
I was playing around with some 223 brass, and for the heck of it necked one up to accept a .277 bullet.
I suppose it would be similar to the 6.8SPC.
I probably wouldn't take the time to develop it, but it sounds interesting none the less.

A google search didn't return any hits.
Has this been done that anyone knows about?

Using lighter bullets in .277 it most likely would be pretty close to the 6.8.  I would imagine that this has been done before by someone although it might not have garnnered as much attention as the 6mm/223 or .300 Whisper.

there is a 7mm TCU and 6mm TCU....you would be right in the middle of those and i imagine you couldn't fill a teaspoon with the difference between the 3.

I have it on good authority that the telepromter is writing a stern letter.

And a 257TCU and a 6.5 TCU and a 6X45 and a 7X45 and a....   It's been done by at least one gent on another board some years ago that I remember him posting about.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

What gun are you planning on chambering this in? That will ultimately make the biggest difference.

There was a .270 Ingram that was marginally popular in the early 1980s for silhouette.  Nothing special over a 7mm TCU, just different.

The 6.8 SPC has considerably more case capacity than any .223-based cartridge.

I hadn't really thought about it.  This was more of a musing than an idea I am going to push foward with.
