Component Question
« on: June 13, 2009, 07:26:02 PM »
I came upon 1000 cci 209 primers and waa 12 sl pink wads, and a friend wants to give me some 700x powder. The closest loads I found on the winchester site with that powder and wad doesn't show cci primers but shows  win 209's.This is in 12 ga and under 1oz loadings.Couldn't you go middle of the road on the loads for the win 209's and use the cci's? I always used the same wads and powder and 7/8oz shot charge in my 20 ga and never worried much about the hulls and standard 209 primer brands.

Personally, If I couldnt find a load with that combination of componts then I would not load it.

I realize that there are an infinite number of possible combinations of loading components that might be workable, but manufactures have went to great lengths to test all of the loads they publish and if that combination is not listed there, there may very well be a good reason its not.

CCI 209 primers are OK to switch for Win 209.

I'm with GB.  I have used that combination.  In fact 700X is a very suitable powder for all shotgun games, and for light game loads (same load for both purposes.)
