Is a 22 K Hornet conversion worth it???
« on: June 14, 2009, 04:08:26 AM »
Hi All,

Before I go and spend the extra $$ on a rechanber and dies...is the 22K hornet conversion worth the $$??  I know there's nothing wrong with the standard, but, I'd like something different.  Does it make sense?

I have both in my T/C.  Nothing wrong with the 22 Hornet. But I really like the 22K Hornet.
My 22K Hornet is a T/C Custom 23". It's a tackdriver.

In a word it does not make sence. If you take the money you will spend on the rechamber and the custom dies it would go a long way toward a .221 Fireball which will out distance the the K- Hornet a good way. The thing is, if you get a hankering for something you can alway find a reason to get it no matter if it don`t make sence and you really don`t need it anyway.  :P  Have fun with your new K-Hornet, they are alot of fun to play with,  ::) but then aren`t all rounds?

I don't know that it's necessarily worth spending for a re-chamber and custom dies.  I bought a 21" factory .22 K-Hornet barrel for my Contender and RCBS dies.  I'm still playing with load combos to find the most accurate for this setup, but the only ones I've been disappointed with are the really heavy (50+ gr.) bullets that I didn't expect to do well anyway.

I'm still waiting for my 77/17 to sell before I rebuy the hornet.  I'll post as soon as I get it.
