The first one kinda speaks for itself, or did I miss anything? It's probably ordered specifically with a shorter barrel.

Number 2 sound like an anniversary model or some other sort of limited edition.

I'm pretty certain FA can help you with info on the guns if you call them with the serial numbers on hand.

Both are collectables, particularly the Packer. Contact FA for detailed info. I'd get a letter on each. There's some cost involved, perhaps $30.00 each (?)

There were 150 Packers made, most were 454's but a few 357, 50 AE, and 44 mag's were made.  Standard length was 3 inch although other lengths were made.  Introduced at the 1996 SHOT Show with no special serial numbering.  The Kodiak Express was in field grade and made for Kodiak Arms of Alaska as a special run.  As far as I know all were in 454.  Even though 100 were planned, not nearly that many were actually made.  Serial numbered DF-KEXXX.  Hope this helps.

i have contacted FA and the only information they gave me was the date of manufacture for both guns. you are right about the odd serial number on the kodiak express. who is kodiak arms of alaska a web search turned up no results?
