I recently purchased a handi-rifle in .243 (bull barrel), which was manufactured in Gardner, Mass. I've yet to shoot it, just ordered my Burris Signature rings. I read a posting a few days ago that said trigger jobs are a must on this type of rifle. From the information that I read, the individual said that the factory will perform a free trigger job if you request it. I contacted the company and found out that the customer can perform the same trigger procedure that is done at Ilion. I asked if there are any legal issues to this and I was told that there are no issues with this procedure. The technical assistant told me to use powdered graphite in the trigger assembly, working the hammer and trigger for a minimum of ten minutes. Once completed, just blow out the residual with compressed air. I was informed that this process should knock off about 2 lbs. from your trigger pull.
