I just bought a Puma lever Action in 454 Casull. Does anyone have any recommendations on good cast bullets for the Puma? I'm thinking between 240 and 365 grains. They will be used for target shooting at 25 to 75 yards with some shooting out to 200 yards. I want them to feed well in the Puma Action, using either 45 Colt or 454 Casull cases. My general preference is for plain base bullets, rather than gas checked. Velocity will probably be 1,500 FPS or less. I may also use the Puma for deer hunting.
I have lots of wheel weights, linotype, tin, and plain lead, so I can cast about any lead formula.
My barrel slugged out at .4529 for the groves. I will try sizing the bullets to .454 to begin with, and then go up or down from there.
Any suggestions as to weight and shape of cast bullet, sized diameter, bullet alloy formula and bullet lube would be greatly appreciated! :>)
