Cheek Rest!
«

A few months ago i bought an Ultra Varmint in .223, i loved it but the scope had to be so high to clear the hammer that it was uncomfortable to and inconsistent to shoot. I read a few post about people modifying the hammer so they could have lower scope rings but i didn't want to attempt that.
So i decided to make a cheek rest. I searched on the internet for people that have made there own, and i found a few good ideas. I used a piece of acrylic (1/8" thick i think
) and a 2X4 lol.
this is what i came up with.
I could have done a better job if i had the right tools and was more patient but its functional

Welcome! Looks like it works, but Choate makes them in standard or tall for $12.

Yeah, i thought about getting one of the tall ones for a while but i really didn't want to drill into the stock in a place that would be visible if i wanted to take the cheek rest off for some reason
. I also wanted it to be height adjustable and the only thing i had to buy was the acrylic, which was like 7.00 bucks or something. It kinda looks funny in the pictures but in person it looks very good, its unique, and like i said before, its functional.

When I bought a Choate stock for my custom Remington 700, it came with both cheek pieces. I use the high on my 700 and the lower one for my handi. Fits me perfectly on both guns. Good job on yours though! I like being able to adjust it.

Looks like it works on the fly. That's all that matter
