Question forn you fellows living in Canada

I know for me to take my guns through Canada, from Alaska to the Lower 48, I have to buy an import license, and it is a big hassle.  But what about Ammo?  Can we take ammo, and powder, through Canada or is that banned too.

Are you driving or flying? I used to work as a airport security officer in Edmonton Alberta Canada. We used to get lots of American hunters coming in and out of during hunting season. The hunters were store the ammo with the rifle as long as they were in the ammo box and in a locked case. It's been a few years and somewhat a little hazy in my memory but it wasn't a huge deal as long as the hunters had documentation for the rifles. Good luck.

I plan on driving, and was thinking of taking powder as well as loaded ammo.  I have a big supply of both powder and ammo.  Have quit buying powder, and loaded ammo, but will still have a bunch when we start to move, if we move.

Move? I hope you move somewhere that will provide the same kind of hunting stories. A lot of us live vicariously through your adventures. I am settled with pretty deep roots were I am (Delaware) but always dreamed of living in Alaska.

If at all possible, check with the border crossing you will use. There is some "personal" interpretation with those rules depending on whoever you get to check you in.
