My cousin lives in Mobile and I visited him recently. Snapper season opened up a couple of weeks ago, and the fishing has been great. Bad thing is that the limit of Red Snapper is only 2 per person. So you can limit out in less than 5 minutes of fishing!
Other good reports have been of vermillion snapper, mangrove snapper (they call them Black snapper), as well as some grouper.
