32 years together
« on: June 23, 2009, 10:29:33 AM »
Today is our 25th wedding anniversary.
We dated for 7 years while my wife LEIGH ANN finished school and took 2 years of college.
That makes a total of 32 years together
I started dating her when she was 14.
I was already out of school.
I am 5 years older than her.
The first pic is just after our wedding and the last pic was taken a couple of years ago at a party.

I take most of the pictures so we don't have many recent ones of us together.
Got plenty of the boys playing sports in school.
The oldest is 17 and the youngest is 13.
Both are taller than me.
Guess it's time to have a family portrait done.

I am looking foward to the next 25!  ;) :o

Your wife was one year old and you were just beginning first grade when me and Faye got together in 1964. We were married on September 3, 1965. We have now spent more than two thirds of our lives together.

BTW congrats on sticking it out thru no doubt some tough times rather than throwing in the towel as so many do these days.

Wow Bill, you're old! ;) Glad I'm not. ;D

I was born the year you got married.

Congrats, and as Bill said there are rough times and nowadays it seems at the first argument some are calling it quits.

It would seem you have a great family life going, again congratulations.

It will be 20 for us next April and it does get rough some times, but you work your way through.

Congratulations Longtom. My wife and I were married 30 years this past March. I thought I was doing well until someone pointed out that his wife was like mine... too hard headed to admit she made a mistake.
Take her out some place really nice she deserves it, you both do.

Thanks to all for the kind words.

We just got back from dinner and a little sight seeing trip around town a little past 9:00.
We finshed the evening by doing a little work in the garden together.

To answer a few questions.

There has been rough times but not as far as the marriage goes.
We have never had an argument the whole time we have been together!

I guess starting to date her at 14 I was able to raise her the way that I wanted. :D

Whenever someone comments on how we have stayed together so long I simply tell them that we are still infatuated  with each other. :o ::) ;) :D

As for the party look, I was trying to look serious like the way folks did back in the olden times.
Does look like I was on a toot! :D

Thanks again guys!

Just had to throw this one in the mix. ;)

Tom, sorry I couldn't find a video with more romantic scenes, but this one had the best sound.

Congratulations, this is rare in society today.

If the wife and I survive until next Tuesday we will have been married FIFTY years.  We tied the knot on June 30, 1959 in Jefferson, TX.  We have lived around the world, raising three children, and currently have six grand children.

From one who knows, it takes a lot of sacrifice and commitment to remain together this long.  To say it has been all rosy would be a lie, there have been times of almost mortal combat, though most times were very good.  A few days ago were riding through South Dakota listening to the radio, in the lyrics of a country western song by Roy Clark he said, “If I had to do it all over again I would do it with you.”  I could help but think my sentiments exactly!
