iver johnson parts
« on: June 23, 2009, 05:09:49 PM »
Hi  Not sure this is the right place for this question but I will give it a try.
I am looking for a trigger guard for a Iver Johnson  Model 66 Trailsman  8 shot .22 revolver.  I have tried Numrich gun parts and Bobs gun parts and both are sold out. Anyone have any ideas of who might have this part.       Thanks  Dan

I have found parts I just could not find easily by sending letters and SASE to the guys who advertise in Shotgun News.  There are a couple of parts guys who advertise in there who don't seem to have web sights.  I haven't looked at a new issue lately, but as of a year or two ago there were still some of these adds.  It's not instant gratification, but dealing with some of these guys who likes to deal the old fassioned way and don't do the web can turn up the hard to find tidbit.

Thanks I may have to give that a try. I was hoping to run across someone who had one sitting in their garage or basement collecting dust. I know these old guns are not worth much but I would still like to get it in one piece, it seems to be in pretty good shape. Theres a gun show nearby this weekend and a guy there sells old parts I will go check it out.
Even if I get all the parts I m not sure if I can get it back together. I cant find any schematics for this thing either. I ordered one from Numrichs but it was nothing more than a parts list(waste of .99 cents). Kind of like putting together a puzzle when you dont have a picture of what it looks like.                Dan

For a picture, try Gun Digest book of exploded handgun drawings p. 218.  For parts, you might try Jack first: 605-343-9544  part# T-136.

Please forgive my slow response but I'm still recovering a PC failure. Just relocated this sight.. It contains an exploded drawing for the 66..

Thanks Gunnut and Cornbelt excellent info on gun drawings. Except I discovered I was missing 2 more parts.....thats what I get for buying basket case guns. They are both available at Numrichs so they are no problem. I tried Jack First for the trigger guard and they said it is sold out, so the search continues. Really liked the link to Steves Pages ,tons of useful info.                                  Thanks Again     Dan
