My goodness CW, that's absolutely beautiful. You have more stock than 5 of my local dealers combined. :D

My 45 70 is starving itself to death. [lack of primers] The barrel diameter has gone from 458 down to about 308. Hope to feed it real soon, to enlarge the bore back to normal. ;D ;D

CW has more stuff than the local Gander Mountian and all the other local stores combined  8)  Excellent planning on his part.

Primers are virtually extinct here except for shotgun.  I did notice a few more bullets in the more common calibers (no .458 of any brand)  on the shelf and found a pound of IMR 4198 but really wanted Hogdon.  Gander did have a new shipment of 12 one pound canisters of Win 748 so maybe things are looking up.

How long can a Handi last without proper nutrition ??? ;D

I have been waiting for the primers to show up from Sinclair seems they sold out very fast but can only deliver so many a day as UPS driver can only take #100 of Haz mat stuff per load.Kurt

Hey CW-

I am totally envious of your workshop......I am building mine right now.  I was lucky enough to get all the bullets, brass, primers I need a few years ago but I had no real organized area to store and work with it.   I will borrow some ideas from your pictures and try to get everything functional now.    thanks for the pix.
I'm just tryin' to keep everything in balance, Woodrow. You do more work than you got to, so it's my obligation to do less. (Gus McCrae)

Local shop 20 miles away has over a dozen ARs from $700 to $1000 Olympic to DPMS to Bushie/Remmie R-15s... More AKs then he has shelf room for, powder out the ears (most powders to cover most calibers that could be asked for  ) and he had a load of Win. and Fed , large pistol and large rifle primers come in , I'm sitting pretty on primers atm .. Only primers im low on are the SPP due to punching out 600+ rounds of 9mm for the other halves pistol ... But even with that bulk loading session i still have about 700 SPP , about 1500 on the LPP around 800 on the LRP ( dont burn those up as fast as the other three primer types ;) ) and around 1300 SRP ... Projectiles havent been that big of a trouble since i shoot my 223/556 rifles more then my other centerfire rifle calibers and almost all of my pistols are lead shooters , which means i will have zero problems getting projectiles for them either ...

I probably have 40% of CDubs collection , So not hurting , Just wouldnt mind being able to give my supplies some reenforcements..

Pete Check out  http://www.bluestarbrass.com/catalog/  for projectiles , brass , powder and loaded ammo .... They arent selling primers due to the general shortage out there but they do remanufacture out most calibers, hope that helps a little brother. You know i hate to hear about starving children and all ;)

Good luck with it boys and keep that powder dry ,

Ton of AR's in the stores now. New and heavily discounted. Can ammo be far behind?

Went to a store yesterday that had 30+ brand new low end DPMS AR's starting under 900. Maybe 10 types of 44 Mag ammo too. Almost bought some Magtech (240gr SWC loaded on Starline brass).

If you want to go mad then try to find primers.

I've been looking for 3 months.   I'm down to about 200 large rifle and I'm saving those in case I can't find any by deer season.

Been stocking up over the past 5 years. Didnt see this coming but just stocked up because of all the shooting I do(100 yard and 25 yard range in back field). About 20,000 of each size and type primers in my enventory. Glad I did it.

I placed an order on line with them for two 50 round boxes of 158 gr. semi wadcutters on new brass for $20.40 per box.  I got a phone call from them saying it was out of stock.  The very nice guy on the line told me they had a bag of 150 on their clearance shelf of 158 gr. SJHPs on new nickle and he could send me those at the same price.  They went out yesterday!  Now that's CS. :D

Here is something interesting....Everyone states there is a primer shortage and what few are available have tripled in price... $32.00 per 1,000 why?  I just bought a brick of .22LR from Academy at a cost of $15.90 for 500 or $31.80 per 1,000.  Hmmmmm .22's have case, powder, lead bullet, primer material and cost more to ship then just primers - -what gives?

My problem is being Active Duty I move so much that a large stash just isn't practicle  So now that this has been going on for awhile I am out of every thing but 2 pounds of powder. :( No one around here has primers and unless it is shotgun or 30-06 there really isn't much 0n the shelves in the way of factory. Hope the rush slows down and fast. I am down to my home defense loads for .45colt and those are for a rainy day.

Yeah Pete,

Those Boys at Blue Star are great about taking care of the people that take care of them...  I have gotten to know a few of them including the owner and they will continue to get my buisness..

Glad they were able to help you out , Once you get your reloading squared away for the 357 mag/max and 44 mag touch base with them on projectiles etc. Also Pete if you decide to try a lead based diet for those and other calibers, Blue Star can help you out ( they keep MO. bullet Co. , ZERO and others lead in stock) and here is a link to another outfit in MO. that is strictly lead bullets http://www.missouribullet.com/index.php  Never fails every time i price bullets on missouri bullet company's site , I end up smiling like a kid with crisp twenty in a candy store ;)

That might be easing up sooner then later SS,  My local shop has been getting LPP in like mentioned , Check the Blue Star link for projectiles ( the have cast as well as copper coated candy) I bought 300- 250g RNFP cast bullets from them for the 45 LC pistol and rifle .. Been real happy with the accuracy results too.

Ahhhh OK .. Checked to see where you are located SS and yeah my old man is from So.Cal and he hasnt had alot of good things to say about the assortment or lack there of for anything from firearms to componants seems everything is in shortage mode out there... He mentioned his local Turners has more consignment guns then shop guns and there arent that many consigns either ..

I wonder if anyone is interested in building our own brand of primers - that's where the other companies came from  - find a need and fill it.  Anyone know of any retired primer personnel?

The key these days is a lot of choices. Can't get .22, shoot rifle calibers, then shoot pistol calibers, then shotgun. I have an air rifle if all else fails. Works up to 40 yards..... I predict that things will normalize until 2010 elections.
