Huntsman sling balance
« on: June 26, 2009, 03:38:31 PM »
At least with a synthetic stocked Huntsman ,there is poor balance with the provided sling points. I want to move the forward sling mount point to the thimble. Are there 3/8" dovetailed thimbles in both blued and stainless versions that have sling mount rings attached or do you have to build them? If I have to build one for my SS Huntsman are they available from Rem. I know  Savage makes a SS screw-on thimble that could be attached to a SS dovetail filler, are there any other ideas out there?   Ken

that would be real cool.  I haven't put a ramrod in my thimble very much. I carry two CVA plastic rods, one for loading and one for swabbing, so I have thought about knocking my thimble out for a clean barrel, except for the notch, but since  I climb a lot during hunting season I figured I could use that thimble for my bow rope attachment.

This might be a little small. I think the band is around .620.

I have used a 20 gauge band on a 50 cal muzzleloader barrel.  It worked good.
