ALRIGHTY--WHAT'S NEXT
« on: June 26, 2009, 07:53:16 PM »
Not that I NEED a new one, or that I am necessarily looking for one---BUTTTT.
I have, in no particular order, A .38 snubbie, Sig P220 in .45, STI in .45, STI in 9x23, A Colt in .45. A Colt in .38 Super, A .22, two Walther .380's, A 5.7x28, A Sig 239 in .40 and .357 Sig.
I lean towards a really nice SVI or LB---something on the order of a semi-custom.
Caliber? I like the .45, 9x23 and .38 super.
Just dreamin of the next.
Dang it all--does it ever end?
Blessings

No bull, I know 3 or 4 guys at work who have formed a support group, sort of like AA.  They look at their gun buying like an addiction - taking all their money, causing grief with the wife.  Each guy has more then 100 guns.  They meet once a month, and bring a list of whats in the safe, then they each pick a different gun, and trade for a month.  By the end of the month, the newness wears off, and they return the guns, and make another trade...and so on.  Everyone has a new toy each month, without having to spend any cash..

Larry - sounds like a bunch of kids with a whole big bunch of new toys.  I get together with my support group about once a week or so for some 'group therapy', and that's always lots of fun.....

Hey William - just read a report on the new Walther PK380 which is about the same size as thier newer P22 - and the report makes it sound like I am gonna hafta get one.  If this new 380 of theirs shoots like the P22, it will be one of those fun-fun guns (no matter how much the ammo costs or how many rounds you put down range, it is still fun).  Now when was the last time you bought a gun for fun shootin'?

I want a Glock. I don't know why, but that's what I want. Never been an Auto type, but for some reason, those Glocks keep saying, "Skunk, buy me, you'd love me, you need me, you want me..." (that one in 40 S&W does most of the talking, but the one in .45 ACP also has a strong voice). So William, maybe get a Glock and do a report here on the forum so I can see if those Glocks are lying to me or telling me facts. I'd take the word of one of my favorite spiritual leaders as the truth... ;)

You really do need a singleshot .410 pistol, it opens up a whole new world of handgunning, shooting flying ;D
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

Hmm, interesting Idea.   Wonder if there are any legal ramifications to this type of 'club' activity.   There are a bunch of guns that I would love to shoot before buying for myself, and there are plenty I would just love to shoot a time or two but have no interest in actually owning.

Pre-war Colts and others made during the war by others is a pretty facinating topic.
The Shop I visit the most is Collectors Firearms here in Houston. They have a great web page.
Back to the subject at hand---They have a whole counter of pre-war Commercials and war made Colts. Prices start about $4,500 and one is in excess of $12,000.
A little too rich for my blood, especially since I am not a collector. I shoot all I own and am not afraid to have them tweaked. That is a real no-no with some of those Roscoe's.
The Old single action Colts, first & second generation stuff is a realy pleasure too window shop.
I purchased a Series 70 Colt, custom engraved with old Ivory grips a couple of years ago. It is a pretty thing and a great shooter.
I am thinking, maybe, a Damascus frame/slide built up too specks and some old stag handles----maybe a touch of engraving---I am a sucker for BBQ guns.

How about a fully engraved six shooter and custom holster? Get the grips, sights, and other options just how ya want em. For that matter, a fully engraved anything is generally pretty cool.

I'd like to have a pimped out levergun at some point. That is, I'd like it to have an awesome trigger, tastefull engraving, and really nice wood. Probably also a Ruger and an S&W.

The history and lore of the BBQ gun IS fun, seems to be a Texas original.
Like bankers with all hat and no cattle, the subject is wrought with wannabe's---like me :-*.
Dang, they are pretty things.

Best thing you could do with that POS is throw it on the grill! That, or hand it to BHO and challenge him to a 50 yard gunfight!

You need a BBQ gun, and a Church gun, with appropriate leather for each.

The church gun and the Court gun are the same, they differ from a BBQ gun in the mode of flash. Court guns are subdued but not without beauty.
Now this is going sumwhar!

For a church/court gun, I'd think a snubbie in matte black/blue, simple scrollwork and plain ivory grips, riding in a simple black leather rig. BBQ guns are like some women - big and brazen, fun to be seen with and look at, but too darn costly for this cowpoke.

I've got the court gun covered. Nice little SS Kimber Pro Carry with black pearlite grips, adorned with the Texas Ranger Star. Carried in a nice black Don Hume pancake, with matching mag pouch and cuff holder. Don't go to court much these days after retirement. I guess anything would work for a church gun, as one would likely need to keep it concealed. All my guns are a little plain for BBQs. I might just have to own at least one, but I would need some direction from William. I have a nice Hi Power I might consider for that project. What say you, William?

If it will carve it can be made into a BBQ gun.
Go onto the Collectors Firearm site and look at some of them Hi-Powers.
Doggy they is pretty.

Pizza gun---now there is an idea.
Let's see here--being Italian it has got to have some color. Red, as in firrarie (sp), would be good, gold inlay. I think we got sumthin goin here.

Truely, I do love BBQ guns, the fancier the better. Can't be too much carving done. Stag handles is what I like.
