I have to agree with Marv here, you boy from the land down under have some very interesting stories. Thank you for posting them.

Thanks fella's , this is what I like so much about Greybeard Outdoors - so many stories , adventures , things to learn and interesting people . Getting frustrated though as I have had a few false starts for hunting trips this year ,  happy to share them with you soon as they happen .

Thanks guys.
One of the really nice things about GBO is the good manners and warm welcome.
It really makes a difference when the forum rules mean people have to play nice.
We'll keep posting as much stuff as we can muster.

You may think I'm joking but in some forums the phrase "I got up this morning and......." is enough to start a flame war.
No swearing and good manners goes a LONG WAY.

You got to wonder why anybody would be left to post on those sites :-\

I admit, I don't have much tolerance for personal attacks.

I really did wonder at times and I was invited to be a moderator on such a site.
Whenever I took one of such offenders on I was met with more hostility and told, in much less friendly language, to procreate in another location.
When this site was closed down for breaking the server provider agreement I was not surprised.
My grandmother once said that as soon as you insult the other person you have lost the debate and that swearing indicated a gross lack of imagination and consideration in a language as broad and descriptive as English.
Australians have a reputation for being straight speakers but we could learn some manners at times.

Well, I think it's about high time for a song. ;D

Any place where "the women glow" and "the men plunder" has got to be better than OK. One thing though, I wonder if those from "Down Under" really eat Vegemite Sandwiches. ;)

Mate , 45 years old and still LOVE my Vegimite sandwiches , Rule 1 - nothing but bakery fresh white bread  ;D. 2nd rule - lots and lots of butter is mandatory  ;D Rule 3- never ever spread your vegimite thin , gotta be in great lumps roughly spread in the middle of the bread  , Vegimite is not to touch the crust ;D .

When my old mate Locutius and I where kids he was over my place one day , must have been down the local creek or perhaps down at fossil cliff for the morning and Mum had bought a 1/2 pound of thinly sliced ham and a loaf or 2 of bakery fresh bread . Troy and I opened a large tin of beetroot and made ourselves a wee snack of Vegimite  ;D, beetroot and ham sanga's , demolished the lot - got into a heap of strife over that one as latter that day Mum went looking for HER ham and fresh bread  >:( and found nothing  :o

For the record Kombi is an Aussie generic term used for all models of VW Bus.
Hence my user name.
This is what my ride looks like:

Jacko, thanks for sharing that story and for setting me straight about those Vegimite sandwiches. Great stuff there.
