South Africa 2010
« on: June 28, 2009, 06:13:29 AM »
It looks promising I will be going in 2010 instead of waiting to 2011. Whoohoo!!! American Airlines is only releasing a few seats at a time for people wanting to cash in airmiles so I grabbed my outbound flight as soon as possible. In a few days I can start working on my return flight. I am trying to go and get out before the World Cup begins.

The wife suggested I not cut myself short on days because is could be awhile before I go again. So I am looking at 14 days (12 full hunting days). Could go shorter or a little longer depending upon when I can get a return flight.

Congrats Elmer!!

I see you have already been there at least once. Nice Kudu in your photo album. That Hog from Reed Ranch is also very impressive. Nice bunch of mounts too. Hope the coming trip to S. Africa nets you more excellent trophies and a great time.

Thanks for pointing out that link, Elmer. I feel bad that I had not discovered it on my own. Very excellent report and pictures. Looking forward to the 2010 report.

Elmer,  are you hunting with Jim, again, or somebody else?  What species are on the menu, this time? ;D

I forgot to mention she donated 200,000 air miles to the cause so that I could go first class. She is definitely a keeper!!  ;)

I will be hunting with Pieter Kriel who was my PH before. I did an google search for him and discovered that Pieter is also an outfitter so I decided to deal directly with him this time.

I have a wish list, but other than really wanting a Springbok the rest of the list is very flexible. I always wanted a Kudu and Gemsbok which I got the first trip. This trip I want to be more open to whatever takes my whim (assuming it is within my budget). My wish list is:

Springbok, Blue Wildebeest, Black Wildebeest, Bushbuck, Blesbok, Zebra, Red Hartebeest, Impala, and Warthog.

I also want to do some night varmint hunting.

Besides the "money", always try to stay a few days extra in Africa. I do a lot of tours in Botswana, Zambia, Namibia and Mozambique and South Africa is still the best, we have all these countries combined into ONE...Travelling by air or road is under the 2 hours by air and 8 hours by road from coast to coast.
Dream it...Discover it...Experience it...
