2 year old killed by snake
« on: July 02, 2009, 08:35:15 AM »
Well, once again, we see the intellgence of some people. Just read a story about a 2 year old girl, strangled by a pet snake. An 8'+ python in Florida got out of it's cage in one room of a house, crawled into the room of the child, and strangled it. The mother was heard to say on the 911 call, ''our stupid snake has killed our daughter''.
Wonder if somebody down there is going to inform her, the stupid one's walk on 2 legs.  gypsyman

I hate hearing stories like that.  So needless.  An 8' python is pretty formidable to such a little one.  What a sorry tragedy.

The hell of it is the snake was just doing what snakes do, it wasn't
stupid. When i was a kid i used to catch large bull snakes and bring them
home and put them in the barn "to catch rats" they learn that a nest full
of hen eggs was easier, or some baby chicks. My mother schooled
me on my snake preserve.

Someone needed a strangling, but it wasn't the two-year-old. What a sickening, totally avoidable, tragedy.

I'm surprised that an 8 foot python would even try to do that. They're not that big relative to a 2 year old kid.

I read somewhere the snake was larger, regardless, it doesn't take all that much force to strangle a 2 year old whether the snake gets a few coils around the neck or chest.

I was given a 12 ft Python years back because a friends wife had a baby.  Their agreement was when she went to the hospital the snake went to a new home.  No snake when the baby was to come home.

I kept it four weeks, then found a new home for it with a single young gay guy.  Never have to worry about kids with him.

When I was stationed at Elmendorf AFB a large snake got loose in base housing.   The owner lived in an 8 plex.  Base Housing office moved all the families that lived in the building out to other units.  That entire building sat empty for three months, with the owner of the snake being charged the rental rates for the empty units.  The snake was finally caught five buildings away, in an empty apartment.

The mother of a new born called in with a sighting of the snake in her babies room.  But the snake disappeared before anyone from CE could get there.  That night the troops from Entomology shop spread flour on the floor through out the apt, while the couple stayed in billeting.  Next morning they followed the tracks in the flour, they found the snake hiding in the floor joist, in the basement ceiling.  Since all building are connected with underground utilidors, (underground tunnels with steam, water, and sewer pipes) it was easy for the snake to move from building to building.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

We need "o" to appoint a pet czar to decide what kind of pets we can have as there are still people out there that aren't smart enough to figure it out themselves!
