HS6 powder
« on: July 02, 2009, 03:42:09 PM »
Anyone have any data for HS6 powder and 173 grain gas checked bullets in the 38 special and the 357 mag. Have a lot of both but no data.  Also have cci mag, primers.  Got every thing from a loader who stopped loading.

Hodgdon lists both .357 and .38 +P data with that powder and a 170-grain jacketed bullet.  You may be able to use that as a starting point.

He is in his 70's and one day he knows what is going on and then not. I have looked through his stuff and can't find his  records. I love him to pieces but his memory is not to be trusted. He shot a 357 revolver. He would shoot 150 to 200 rounds a weekend until 4 years ago. The last rounds he shot were some of my loads. I know that it shouldn't have been done the family hid his guns not long after. They had to tell him they were stolen to keep him from sherching his daughters homes for them. Sad he was and still is a fine friend and shooting person. MAN THAT OLD MAN COULD SHOOT A REVOLVER!!!!

I've been using 8.0 grains of HS-6 under 158 grain lead gas check bullets in my .38 Special guns as well as some of my .357s for a couple years.  Seems like a good load to me.  I haven't bothered to clock it yet, but I suppose it runs around 1100 fps.

Does anyone remember the scene from "Quigley Down Under" showing the aborigines lined up on the skyline as far as you could see?   That needs to be US!
