Need help with price for a 50 cal used encore.

Hello everyone
I am in need of a little help.  I hapened to be in a local small sporting goods store/ tradding post yesterday and I ran across a 50 cal. stainless, synthic, encore.  This is a used gun.  The gun was in real good shape on the outside.  I did not remove the breach plug and inspect the barrel, but I would before purchasing.  I have never owned an encore and that is why I am needing a little help with a used price.  I would say that the gun is probably about 3 or 4 years old.  It is not one of the new ones with the speed breach, swing hammer, or recoil stock.  Assuming that the barrel is very clean what is it worth, or what do they sell for used.  The price he had on the gun was $500.00 but I would guess it could be bought for 450.00.  Any help would be greatly appricated.

I bought my encore back in 2002 for $550 NIB. In todays market a used rifle in excellent shape should bring at least that much I would say.  If you can get it for $450 don't think you can do any better.  Take the breechplug out and check the breech area and inside the barrel if I was you.

Sold my encore for $500 and I threw in some BH powder and a Simms pad, but think I did good over all.  Best of all no more QLA problems!!

First off I wouldn't be looking at a used Encore.  I had too many problems with the one I had and got rid of it.  But with all aside, that is too much for any used ML.  I don't care if it is an Encore.  If you really must have this gun I wouldn't pay any more then $425 for it.  I would be curious as to why it is sitting in the rack?  Wonder if the previous owner had the same problems I had and got rid of it (?). 

If you have this kind of money, why not get something new and know what you are getting.

I am not sure what ed gets for one but have seen new in box at bass pro and other shops for 575.00.
Gun show dealers wont 500.00 for used. But as Larry said there are a lot of fine Muzzleloaders for a lot less money and just as good. I bought my Triump from ed for 350.00 out the door. I have bought new in package CVA 209 hunter bolt mag with starter kit for 100.00 and Cabalas is always running sales in the off season so check there. Shop around as you can beat that price.
