The saga continues!

WeeeeeeeeeeeLLLLLLLLLL, the saga with Thompson Center arms continues :( . I sent the 209x45 barrel that shot a solid 9" at 50 yards :?  back on the 1st of Sept. and they told me it would be the 22nd due to 50 barrels in front of me  . I called today to see what they found. Well the lady I talked to in repair (who sounded like I might be bothering her) said oh it's going to be a week or more. I am a little impatient at times but this is starting to really twist my shorts :x . A gun I paid 550.00 for
is totally useless and the company that made it could care less. I know you guys are high on Thompson and have gotten great service from them but a month to even check a warranty problem is REALLY stretching it. If they have 50 barrels to check, me thinks there is a little problem some where  . It is time to hire more repair people or use some of that advertising money on some better barrels. I went out the other days and bought a Knight woverine II for 281.00 with tax. I shot it today with 3 type of bullets and they all went into 2" at 50 yards. The trigger is smooth and about 3 lbs. and can be adjusted without springs, stone or a CD for instructions. The knight is a little more trouble to clean but it will shoot. If you are getting the feeling I'm a little upset, your right!  If I ever get the barrel back, I think I will sell the gun and extra 7MM08 barrel and the 4X Thompson scope I have and never buy anything Thompson makes again. Thanks for letting me vent, I feel better now :? . Don

Doninva,

Don't feel bad, I've had two engraved Encore frames on order since early July for FoxRidge (TC's Custom Shop??).  The gunshop I'm dealing with calls at least once a week for an update on possible delivery.  The story that they get is they have vendor troubles and do not have an estimate on delivery.  I may have to cancell the order and buy from one of the on-line auctions just to get the actions that I want and have an engraver do the work that TC CAN'T!!! :x  :x

Good luck with your service, I've also read either on this forum or another that there was a definate problem with the 45ml accuracy wise, with a lot of them going back and being replaced with 50ml barrels that are more accurate.  You might want to check that out and just have TC send you the 50ml.

I'm glad you feel better.

Thompson has given me great service. The fact of the matter is that they are victims of their own success. Just a few years back, they troddled along with relatively low visibility in the marketplace. With the homerun of their Omega, and a similar situation with the Encore 209 x 50 ML-- they have no inventory, and have backorders well into 2004 already.

Small consolation, I know . . . but they are at their production limit.

I had a bad barrel in 7M-08.  Sent it in and had another back in about a week.  I dont doubt it is very frustrating :x  :x  I also have heard that their guns sales are out of control and they cant keep up with everything.  I hope they take care of you soon . . . . good luck.

If they have 50 warranty returns in house at one time how good are they really doing. Just because a company sells a lot of a product doesn't make it any good. Like the original poster, I'm sure he could not try the barrel out before he bought it and now he is stuck with it and stuck waiting for T/C to wade through all of their returns to get to his.

I worked for a company one time that made a part for a certain type of car Engine. Toward the end of the month all of the normal Q/C checks were set aside so they could ship the number they needed to for that month. They would deal with the returned goods at a later date but "get the parts out the door now so we can get paid" was the Company attitude. Sounds like the same thing here. Sean

Well Don, I hate to get you torqued up again but I must tell you this.  I do not know how T/C handles their returns but I just sent them a Contender barrel that would not shoot.  They received it on Sept. 16.  I got it back today on Sept. 25.  They changed the locking lugs because they said they were engaging too deep and not locking up tight.  They test fired the barrel and said they got a 1/2" group at 50 yards.

Like I say, I do not know who works on what.  Maybe only some people work on certain things, but my turnaround time was great in my opinion.  Hope I still think so after I shoot the barrel this weekend.

I did just notice though that they had an estimated completion date of 10/14/03 on the paperwork, don't know why it got done so much sooner.

Good Luck!
