44 mag rifle

 I was just on the rossi web site and was checking out the e-catalog and that was showing 44 mag single shot riffle but if you go to the web site and use thier serch it doesn't list one. Anybody know anything about the 44 mag are they making them again? I already have a 357 mag single shot with the nickle finish topped with a simmons pro diamond 4x32 abd it is one of my most favorite guns. With the hornady leverevolution 140gr I am shooting 1.5" at 100 yards. But would realy like the 44mag also.

i just picked up one  in 44 mag. with 20 ga. shot gun barrel  and 22 lr barrel about a month ago  but they might of changed there  web site but that is only 44 mag. i could find listed t the time i was looking  havnt sigted it in yet but  will  soon

i payed $275  for it i got it for my son it will be his first year deer hunting this year  and i kind of liked the 44 mag. for a first gun for him

 hunter13 one more question, do you know what the rate of twist is? I called the gun shop up the road from me today and asked him to find one for me. Just the 44 mag not the combo. I have an R357S and it is probly my favorite gun, fun to plink and have taken many deer with it.

I have Rossi 44mag for about 6 months from Buds gun shop , It came with fiber sights, yesterday I put a low end Weaver 2x7 and was able to get 1 inch groups at 100 yards with leverlotion ammo, looking for fed. fusion ammo now .  Smitty  from Pa.

does the 44mag kick more than the 243 was going to get the 243 for my daughter but now thinking maybe 44mag please help

I can't attest to the Rossi 44 mag but I do have a 44 mag handi rifle and it seems like just a nudge not even as much as a 20 ga trap load. I also had a Rossi 308 win which is the parent case of the 243 and it was one of the most brutally recoiling guns I have ever shot.

she has shot a friends 243 rossi and liked it i look at the lead on a 243 and 44mag and think bigger must be better only use will be a deer gun and she won't be shooting over a hundred yards

i bought the 44  mag  rossi  for my son he is 8 and he loves it it doesnt have much recoil we get 1 inch groups with it with the hornady leverlution ammo

I will throw my opinion out there and say stay away from the Rossi 243. Maybe I got a lemon, but with Leupold scope and Warne rings and every ammo imaginable, I never got under a six inch group. My Rossi 223 shoots hole in hole at 100 yards, so it wasn't me that couldn't stay in the group.

ya know I just wonder if the 243 isn't a problematic round in a single shot break open. It seems to be the one you here about the most often in handis also

I have a Rossi .243, youth model.  Kicks like a mule and not very accurate.  The .22 barrel that came with it shoots much better.  The 20 gauge is nuts to shoot.  Simply too light.  If you get the .243 in the full sized gun it's much better.  I ended up filling the synthetic stock with bb's.  That helped a bunch, but now it weighs about 12 pounds including scope.  I only shoot paper so the extra weight really isn't an issue.  I also used a Limbsaver slip-on recoil pad for awhile, but the extra weight has now made that unnecessary.  I'm still trying to find the magic load for it.  It's got a very long throat, about .280 inch.  That's over a quarter inch!  Handloading closer to the lands seems to help, but you need to use the heaver (100 grain) flat bottom bullets to do that.  Still, I like my Rossi.  Great gun to experiment with since the cost is reasonable.
