Have a Ruger SS compact in .308. Got it last year and and used it last season. Great handling gun but the accuracy was a little, or actually very disappointing, honest 3-4 inch groups. Fine for woods range deer hunting but not something I would usually keep. Wasted at least 100 bucks on trying different premium ammo that would improve the horrible accuracy. 3 weeks ago I acraglased the angled receiver area and the tang and free floated the barrel. Also did the tubbs final finish system and it is now a 1-1.25 inch grouping rifle with 150 gr rem coreloks. Would probably do even better with a good trigger but as it is, its fine for hunting. I now love this gun. It is such a great feeling to finally have the gun doing everything I expected of it. Would not have spent all the money on the ammo, final finsih and glassbedding time if I didn't love the way the rifle felt and handled. Its nice to have that black cloud of buyers remorse finally lift. I would highly recomend them, just be prepared to do a little work. Hope it helps.
