I really hope...
« on: July 07, 2009, 07:03:22 AM »
The more I think about it... the more I HOPE that Sarah Palin will align with a third party.  She might not win as a third party candidate but we NEED a third party that is an actual valid vote-getting party.  I don't know much about the third parties that are out there.  I think there would have to be a decent percentage of the voting populace that would swing to her.  I know that some Republicans would vote for another party if they thought there was a viable candidate.  Heck you might get a few demoncrats to swing to independent that wouldn't swing to Republican party no matter who the candidate was.  What say you?

Unless she pulled enough votes to win, almost impossible for a third party candidate she would merely assure obama a second term. Until some additional third party is firmly established at the local and state level with numerous members also in the US Congress they ARE NOT gonna win the Presidency.

So all a strong third party candidate for President can do is to assure the party they pull the most votes from loses and the one they pull the least from wins. In this case that assures obama a win regardless of who the republicans put up.

Effectively if you get your wish you are then wishing obama a second term even tho in a round about way.

I have to agree with GB.  Until a third party makes a mark in the local community his chances of a national office are somewhat limited.

Do you think those that supported a third party canidate in the last election contributed to the eelection of Obama? :o :o :o

I think you are correct.  I thought about that before I posted and came to the conclusion that we HAVE to have a credible showing as a third party at least once before we will ever win.  We won't draw the numbers needed unless people KNOW that the third party is credible.  I think we would have to pull in about 20-25% to get the average voters attention.  Then they would know that their vote for a third party would be of value and not a wasted vote.  If she runs I'll vote for her party anyway unless she gets crazy and becomes a liberal demoncrat.

That could be true but at some point we need to make a stand . At this point in history things may flow down hill faster than we can build from the local level up .

I think Palin will go third party.  Lord knows a lot of the Republican establishment has thrown her under the bus.  Anymore, there really isn't any difference between Republicans and Democrats in Washington.  I believe 2010 will be a telling election.

I made several stops throughout central and west Texas over the long weekend.  Everywhere I went it was the same story.  People are just fed up with government irrespective of the party affiliation.  Will our country implode?  Who knows.  But the water is definitely boiling.

The real problem is checks are being written that can't be cashed . The poor saw the middle class as a cash cow and Govt. is killing the cash cow and it ain't sitting well with the poor . Most allowed Govt to milk the middle class a bit but its getting butchered !

One interesting thing about her is that she attracts crowds. She attracted more people during the campaign than McCain did. She can use that to make bo-koo bucks.

Rather than a 3rd party we need a candidate that will, like Newt did, draw up a contract of what needs to be done to get the country back on the Right track.  And then explain what that track is.
Everyone wants free stuff and most of the dolts do not understand that free to them is not free and has greater costs down the road.
that government is there to provide the goods and services that others are not willing or able to provide.
That taxing anyone more is bad and the first word in Capitalism is CAPITAL.  With out wealth in the hands of people they can not provide the goods and services that are needed.  More goods and services that are provided the greater the demand for labor and wages will rise.
In the last ellection I did not vote for anyone, I voted against some one with the hope that McCain would win and have to step down.

YES, I believe they assured an osama win. They bad mouthed Mccain so bad a lot of folks just stayed home instead of voting. Worst part is, they knew their candidate had no chance of winning, all they did was a smear campaign. A 3rd party would be great, but til they have an electable candidate, it aint gonna happen. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:(

I'll add my opinion to those that think any third party candidate  will insure BHO second term, perhaps longer.

A third party or Dark Horse candidate is how we ended up with Clinton.  Personally, I'm going to start supporting the Libertarian party at the local & state levels whenever possible, or at least some form of independant. I like what th Libertarians stand for.
