Mossberg 46M; front sight proplem
« on: July 07, 2009, 07:28:48 AM »
Several months ago I purchased a 46M in very good condition. It has a bead (dovetailed) front sight; an adjustable rear sight, plus the Mossberg S100 aperture sight. Yesterday I finally had a chance to shoot it, however if the rear open sight or the S100 fully bottomed out I could get no closer then 1.5" high at 25 yds. Have contacted Havlinsales about a taller front sight (this one is .088 tall from the bottom of the dovetail to the top of sight). I don't think this front sight is original. Shows punch indentation on dovetail. Does anyone have any info that might assist me? I love the way it grouped and the trigger seems great. Also I only had one brand of ammo with me, Aquilla SE.
Thanks for listening.

You may be right, but I won't be shooting smallbore benchrest at 100 yds. Ordered a Lyman 17A globe front sight from Havlin sales and should take care of it (I hope).
Thanks for your comments.
