You could try blackening the front - or sending it in and having the (black) dovetail front sight installed.

Or (what I would do) sell it and buy something adjustable ...

I would also buy one with adjustable sights and sell the one you have.

Fa uses a pretty good fixed sight. I doubt if your going to get any better sight picture with a adjustable sighted gun. Only advantage to them is there more flexible in what you can shoot of them.

I'll have to strongly disagree. There is no comparison between the clarity of the shallow rear sight notch on the fixed sight FA, and the black adjustable rear sight. Nor is there any comparison between the clarity of the front blades, particularly if the stock ramp is replaced with a patridge or undercut patridge. The stainless fixed front, or the dovetailed blue version simply do not integrate as well with the fixed rear trough, as well as the adjustable sights coordinate with each other. This is particularly obvious with the short 4 3/4" barrel lengths. This isn't just my opinion, but rather the opinion of several of us who compared shooting the fixed sight vs adjustables and round butts vs standard at the Whittington Center a few weeks ago.
The fixed sights may have their place among those who like them, but sight clarity is not their strong feature.

+1 Ken.

With that said, I still want one with fixed sights. As you say, they have their applications.

I have a Model 97 in .357 Magnum with fixed sights and a Model 97 in .22 LR with adjustable sights, and the adjustable sights are much easier for my aging eyes.  I also have a M83 in .454 Casull with adjustable sights.   I also would sell the fixed-sight gun and replace it with the adjustable sighted gun as there is not much to be done with the fixed sights once your eyes can no longer focus.  My best 25-yard group with the fixed sights is running about six inches, and that is not the gun's fault.  Last year, I was shooting two-inch groups with the same load.  I have used sight black, painted outlines on the rear sight notch, etc. to no avail.  I think my next step is to have a gold bead added to the front sight blade.

I like the toughness and ease of holstering the fixed-sight gun, but I need adjustable sights -- or a dot sight.

My experience with my various handguns over the years has been that the clarity, sharp edge, colour and width of the front sight are the most important factor in accurate shooting. Absolutely without question.

Not saying that the rear sight makes no difference, just that I'd start in front and work back.
