More Antique Colt Percussion Questions

Dear Guys,

Can anyone please tell me the correct original powder flasks for:

    1.   a Colt model 1849 pocket revolver issued in the 1850's.

    2.   a fourth model 1851 Colt Navy, issued near the middle of production.


Can you please refer me to any pictures or websights with pictures of these items?

Should I maybe move this to the Civil War discussion board?

A Civil War Forum won't have any more information, maybe less, as powder flasks were not issued.  Soldiers were issued paper cartridges.  There are many books out on Colts by RL Wilson and others with photographs of cased sets. The cased sets will illustrate the flask that Colt expected to be used with any particular gun.  I have pictures I can scan, if I can figure out how to send a picture through this websites email option, otherwise, email me and I can scan and send you some examples.

Dear Flint,

Thanks for your generous offer.  I have ordered a definitive book with detailed photos on the Colt Navies, which should be arriving in the next day or so.  I am sure there will be some pictures of cased Colts that show the correct flasks.

On the issue of the 1849 pocket model, however, it would be great if you could e-mail me a picture,  or if not,  you could just describe the proper flask.  I have seen references to "Flags & Stars" flasks, and "Eagle" flasks, but I have not seen copies and don't know whether they are proper for the 1849 piece.
