Conservatives in McCain camp truly have no one to Blame but themselves. I never understood the Palin VP pick. She was pushed to far to fast and quickly found herself out of her depth in the national spotlight. She wasn't vetted properly, and wasn't helped when she arrived.

I never understand Americas embrace with our move up or out mentality. Somehow we assume moving up equals success.
Palin may have been great for Alaska but she wasn't great on national stage for the Party.

Reminds me of a Spec 4 I knew in the military. Worked the motor pool at FT. Bliss. Was an awesome mechanic. The military wanted to make him SGT. He didn't want the job nor the promotion. He knew what he was , and was happy just doing his Job he enlisted for and
was great at it. Wasn't good enough for the Army's up or out policy. So he didn't reenlist.

Army lost a good mechanic. (he now works for IH on big Rigs and rakes in the cash (And I say , Great for him , Shame on the Army)

I see a lot of Parallels here to the Palin story.

Franken is the new senator from Minnesota because the republicans deserved to get slapped down hard. Ex-senator and republican Coleman's shift to the left on many issues angered a lot of his former supporters, and he consequently lost support. Now Minnesota is stuck with a matched pair of morons in the senate. Thanks republicans!

When will they learn that they can't out-democrat democrats?

And guys, about the Peggy Noonan thing: go look in the mirror. The reaction to the post took no issue with the ideas written in the commentary. The reaction was an attack on Noonan as a person, and then me as a person. How is this reaction any different than the left's attacks on Sarah Palin? Go back and read some of it, like the last few paragraphs and then tell me what is wrong with that point of view? You many not like what she says, or how she says it, but these are questions to be taken seriously about Palin and any other republican candidate.

Don't understand the choice of Sarah?

The conservatives were not in the McCain camp. The McCain camp knew that they were weakened because of it. (on top of a pathetic campaign) Sarah's arrival lit things up and energized things - including stimulating the liberal venom like no one before.

I agree that she was "thrown out there" without any fair shake at all in terms of preparation. But in fairness, I do not think anyone who is genuine and honest could have done any better under the circumstances. This woman stirs up liberal hate and fury like slapping on a hornet's nest. She recovered and righted herself pretty quickly after the initial onslaught. I give her credit for that.
Put it into perspective - Don't forget, we have a president that can't deliver a speech without a teleprompter. We have a Sec. of State who stole the White House china, lied in front of the whole world that she "landed under sniper fire", a VP whose foot is in his mouth more than in his shoes, a slew of cabinet nominees and appointees who don't file income tax, a diplomatic corps that is now 60% unqualified appointed political hacks, etc. Look at the Speaker of the House! And Sarah and her family have received more crap & cheap shots than all of the rest of them combined.

I'm not sure I agree with your parallel to the Army mechanic at all - but I do agree - "Shame on the Republicans".

The RNC called me for the umpteenth time this year, asking for my support. Again, I told them NO..not until they get back to their conservative roots and dump those RINOS. I told them that when they start fighting back against some of the lies the Dems are handing out and start including more people who are REAL, such a Sarah Palin; they can forget ANY kind of support from me any many, many more people.
Frankly, I believe those who claim to be gun owners and conservative and still bash Palin..are falling for liberal spin..

I told her I will offer support when I SEE some CONSERVATIVE results..and not before!
..And yes, I assured the lady on the phone that I wasn't angry with her personally..

If you think that the rest of my post was about you, you are not right. That statement was a generalization concerning a thing I have observed with a couple locals, and made in the sense that if the shoe doesn't fit, one is not obliged to wear it..

I too am not sending money to the RNC, and when they call, I always tell them why I cannot support them. I do it politely and factually. Hopefully they will get the message eventually. I also quit supporting republican candidates. For example, when Coleman first ran for Minnesota senator, I supported him by delivering lawn signs, etc. After his failed first and last term as senator, I did not support him during his run. I called his office to tell him why there was no support forthcoming. I also did not use any bumper stickers. Bumper stickers, believe it or not, are hugely important to a political campaign.

The opportunities for the conservatives and real change is there.

Billy 56, If there were 2 liberal parties and one conservative party wouldn't that split the liberal vote and give the conservatives an advantage rather than giveing the liberals a 2 to 1 advantage?

Nope, when you have, 34 Demolibs, 33 RINOlibs, and 33 conservatives in the senate the vote will ALWAYS be liberal. The liberal scum has infiltrated the Republican party and they need to be exterminated. Going to a 3rd party will ONLY give the above scenario as an option. Now the makeup won't be 34,33,33 always, but it will ALWAYS favor the liberaal scum.

I think she would be good for America and will vote for her or anyone with her platform in the future . That said if ya'll don't want O for a 2nd term then get busy switching up . I'll let you all argue this one out , As for me, I always thought Palin was just not ready for Prime time. And my guess is she will run the book circuit for a while make some bucks , take $$$ for some lectures, and then slowly slip into obscurity. I'm not bashing anyone , I Just think thats what will happen. In general , I don't envy anyone who has to stand up to the media's public scrutiny. The media dredges up dirt on all candidates , Dem, Con, Rep , libritarian, doesn't matter what label anyone calls themselves.. America is fascinated with dirty laundry.

It's a shame really. That's why most good people stay away from politics. That's why self serving ~~people~~ crooks get elected, and that's why nothing ever gets accomplished. 20 years from now we'll still be in the same boat. Rowing even harder and not making any more headway than we are today. We all refuse to come together jointly and work to solve issues. Palin was no god send , neither is Obama or anyone else, there all in it for their own gains. Its the best game in town. Over the years congress has voted themselves a retirement package that allows them to make more in retirement than they make while working. Unreal.

My company just outsourced 65 more Jobs overseas today , and offset the move by laying off 65 of my fellow US workers.
We use to be an industrialized nation. We made stuff, good stuff, quality stuff , Took pride in our steel , our lumber, Automobiles, trains, etc ..etc.. didn't mind paying a little more cause the quality was there . Now we just import everything. I don't get it. What the hell happened? and lets not start blaming one party or the other. Time for finger pointing is over. I have lost my faith in all of our leaders. Dem, Rep, and everyone in between , the whole lot of em. And don't look towards the corporations to help out , There is no loyalty anymore. Use to be an honest days pay for an honest days work. Now its all about the bottom line. The top 5 % are in it for themselves , ING and citibank and a few others announced are going to hand out additional bonuses (calling it retention pay) using our taxpayer bailout monies . Disgusting. Trickle down my A#!@ . I received a 1 % increase this year and was told I should feel lucky some received none (equals about 35 dollars a pay period before taxes). while my companies top execs made over 1.2 million a piece.

Now I sign off - to walk next door and help my good neighbor and friend figure out how he and his family are gonna get through his Job loss to friggin India today because some bean counter figured out he could save an additional 12 1/2 cents for every widget produced .

A candidate on the ballot that has a platform of what the "people" want is what the parties don't offer or want. The parties offer a choice of lesser evils to keep thier "primary agendas" alive by not focusing on them, a diversion technique. The candidate doesn't have to be experienced or brilliant, they need to present a platform that will get a majority vote, (this is what the parties don't want). All the party candidates that jump on that wagon to stay in office will create legislation leaning toward/supporting that platform. Voter mission accomplished, prehaps more easily, than with a brilliant or experienced candidate.

Scootrd, I have the same problem in my company. Been here 34 years. I am an engineer and my division had 3 of us in here for 20+ years. Now I am the only one left. One retired, and one was promoted out. We contract out a lot of work now. I have to check it all. Problem is when I started, we had businessmen and engineers running the company out of WWII. Now we have a lawyer for the president of the company and a bean counter as CEO. All they do is figure ways to cut costs and fill out 5,247 forms to cover something in case it might happen. Not really that many forms, but more paperwork. We had about 1,600 employees a few years back, now we have around 1,200. Trying to cut more.

I believe Peggy Noonan to be just another Washington insider that has lost sight of what real America is and wants. Palin didn't fit the typical candidate profile and therefore was a problem. McCain got a tremendous boost when she was added, but the campaign was poorly run and in the long run had no hope.

Anymore there isn't very much difference between Republicans and Democrats and is why the RNC gets more no's the yes' to make contributions. One could argue the Palin could have been better prepaired, but I contend that had she been allowed to speak her mind versus trying to be scripted all of the interviews she did would have gone much better.

I would not fault Palin if she did slip into obscurity to raise her family and live life they way she wants to live it. Judging from her short time as Governor of Alaska I believe she is not only a social conservative, but a fiscal conservative...something our country needs desperately. People in general put too much stock in Ivy League educations and people that come from money.

Watch the elections in 2010. I believe we will see the emerging of a viable third party.

Although I will follow a "frame of reference" instead of any party, I realize 3rd parties will have a tough row to hoe. I have been saying for some time now that if any third party candidate ever wanted to get anywhere, they must do so now. Perhaps Sarah has seen the "handwriting on the wall". Even if a 3rd party is not a viable choice at this time, perhaps it would take a threat from the true conservatives, perhaps led by Sarah ..to bring the Reps back to thair senses and their conservative roots.

It l;ooks like the few campaign bucks I can squeeze out will go to her..and I will let the RNC know about it whenever they call or write, along with letting them know I see no moves by Republicans toward returning to their conservative roots. It looks like the inside-the-beltway Republicans sich as McCain, Noonan, the Doles et all, have formed a circle facing each other in a "mutual admiration society" , and no longer care to look toward conservatives beyond the beltway.
