Nice, thanks.  One lesson for everyone is in the close-up photo of the crisp markings on top of the gun.  Although they've been exposed to the elements, sun, rain, salt spray from the ocean-for a very long time, there's NO loss of detail nor metal-removing etching to be seen. 

Why?

There's no acid rain in Guantanamo.  Acid rain comes from fossil-fueled power plants and vehicle exhausts.  The only problem that cannon could have in common with those at the Washington Navy Yard is bird droppings, and we didn't see the entire top surface, but I'd expect it is similarly crisp and sharp in detail.  I've seen the same thing with the fine old Spanish bronze cannons at the Presidio in San Francisco-no acid rain, no corrosion.

I liked the article and linked it into the Company of Military Historians Forum.  By the way, I was just made The Moderator there, for whatever that's worth.

He's not a moderator he's a sponsor...

As a moderator I have people to take care of things like driving the big boss car, pick up the tab at the pub as a business expense, and I am invoiced full suggested retail for donuts for the staff meetings which are also a business expense...Sponsors, well they have people to assign people to drive, own the pub and the donut shop.

He is a moderator on a forum, now; just not a moderator on GBO. So in the mold of a moderator like DD and Cat Whisperer
he is entitled to similar perks like they receive.
